Same Time, Next Year Atlantic city Theatre reviews
Chaka was disappointing
"I had never seen her live, but I've been a life-long Same Time, Next Year fan. Needless to say, I was beyond excited about the concert at the Birchmere. The performance, however, was so disappointing. The intimate venue is such a great venue. The first 20-30 minutes included covers, 2 Joni Mitchell songs - pretty but not Same Time, Next Year songs. Every song had instrumental breaks with multiple instrumental solos, not what I came for. She finally sang about 4 or 5 of HER songs. Then, the worse part was when she let her background vocals sing, and they were awful - singing flat and missing runs. The encore song, "Ain't Nobody," was really, we almost didn't get that. She was in good voice, but I really wish that I could have heard more of it."
